It hasn’t been the easiest of tournaments for Novak Djokovic. The 24-time slam champion hasn’t physically looked the best on court. In his second-round match against Zachary Svajda, Djokovic was breathing heavily between points, often putting the towel over his face during the changeover. Against Cameron Norrie in the third round, the Serbian required a medical timeout to get his back looked at.
But Djokovic is mentally tough and used his experience at slams to his advantage, beating Learner Tien in straight sets in the first round, Svajda in four in the next match and Norrie in four on Friday. Djokovic’s 18 aces against Norrie is the most in a U.S. Open match.
Now he faces Jan-Lennard Struff, whom Djokovic has a 7-0 career record against.
