NV Energy warns customers of impersonation scam

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — NV Energy is warning customers of a scam where they say people are going door-to-door impersonating its personnel.

“Safety for our customers and employees is our number one priority,” the utility company said.

Officials remind customers that NV Energy may visit homes or businesses for unscheduled services, including emergencies, placing door hangers for upcoming work, special meter tests and field inspections.

NV Energy says its employees and contractors carry identification and will not demand immediate payment or threaten disconnection in-person, by phone through text or email.

According to a social media post, NV Energy does not partner with outside companies for HVAC or solar consultations and installations.
