US News | Verizon Wireless Outage Affects Tens of Thousands Nationwide Due to Software Glitch

 

On Saturday, August 30, a widespread wireless service disruption impacted tens of thousands of Verizon customers across the United States. The company attributed the outage to a “software issue,” according to a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Verizon confirmed that its engineering team is actively working to resolve the problem. The glitch primarily affects eSIM connectivity, potentially preventing devices from accessing the mobile network. Customers experiencing issues are advised to check Verizon’s website for real-time updates and support.
For context, an eSIM—short for embedded SIM—is a digital alternative to traditional SIM cards, enabling users to connect to cellular networks without needing a physical card.
